"Hit the Road" is a SovietRussian marching song written in 1954 by Mikhail Dudin and composed by Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi. It was originally written for the 1955 film Maksim Perepelitsa. In 1959, the composer Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi received the Lenin Prize for this song.[1][2]
It is performed on Victory Day (ru. День Победы) and on other military holidays in Russia, Belarus and other former Soviet republics.
It has been translated into Chinese and Korean. The march of East Germany's National People's Army, "Unterwegs", is derived from "V putj".
We have still a long way to go,
Cheer up soldier, raise your head!
Regimental banners proudly fly,
And our commanders lead ahead.
Refrain:
So forward, march, march, march!
And for you, my dearest,
I'll write and send you letters.
Farewell! The bugle calls,
Hey, soldiers - march on!
They are brave lads, every warrior,
In formation with falcon gaze.
We became friends with a blazing glory,
Glory we won in the fight.
Refrain
Let our foes remember this:
We are not threatening, but merely saying.
Together we crossed half the world.
If necessary, we will do it again.
Refrain
And now has come for us
Days of study and hard work.
Only flourished through the years
Our village and city folk!
