"Our Republic, Hail!" was the national anthem of Bulgaria between 1947 and 1951, during its early years as a communist satellite state of the Soviet Union. The anthem, written by Krum Penev and composed by Georgi Dimitrov, won a contest on 14 February 1947,[1] this replacing the previous anthem "Šumi Marica", which was used by the Kingdom of Bulgaria and briefly the People's Republic of Bulgaria. On 1 January 1951, this anthem was replaced by "Dear Bulgaria".[2]

English translation[]
The collar of slavery hard
And darkness of grey fate
We crashed with fire and word
In cruel unequal fight.
Chorus:
Our people's republic,
Our republic, Hail!
Today our land is free,
Today everyone lives free!
For us the freedom is sacred
And we will defend it with love.
The blood of the fighters is spilled,
On every Hallow and ditch.
Chorus
For our and foreign tyrants,
Motherland, there is no space!
We remember the numerous wounds
The fascist bloody terror!
Chorus
