The National Anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina was first adopted in 1999. It was de facto until 2001 when it gained de jure status. It was composed by Dušan Šestić in 1998.

It is one of the four national anthems of the world that does not have official lyrics. Previously, Bosnia's anthem was "Jedna si jedina", which had lyrics. The reason for the change is because the lyrics to "Jedna si jedina" did not make any references to the country's ethnic groups (particularly the Serbs and the Croats), so the UN decided to replace it with a new instrumental version instead as an effort to fulfill the goals of the Dayton Agreement which ended the Bosnian War.

Still, many Bosniaks prefer "Jedna si jedina" over the current anthem, as the former contained lyrics. Thus, the former is sometimes regarded as the country's de facto anthem (similar to "Ey Iran"). There have been attempts to make lyrics official for this anthem, but so far none have been successful.

Trivia

• It is one of the four national anthems of the world that does not have official lyrics. The other three being "Evropa", "Marcha Real" and "Inno nazionale della Repubblica di San Marino".
