"Moscow—Beijing" (Москва–北京) is a Soviet-era mass song about the friendship between the Russian SFSR and the People's Republic of China, before the Sino-Soviet split. It was written by Mikhail Vershinin while imprisoned at the Gulag in 1949, and it was put to music by Vano Muradeli, commemorating Stalin's 70th birthday.[1] The song was written to celebrate the newly formed communist Chinese regime.[2] However, in the 1960s when relations between the two countries' relations split, this song was no longer popular.[3]

English translation[]
Russian and Chinese brothers forever.
The unity of peoples and races is growing stronger.
A simple man shrugged his shoulders,
A simple man walks with a song,
Friendship forever in our hearts
Chorus:
Moscow - Beijing.
Moscow - Beijing.
Nations are coming, going forward.
For bright work, for lasting peace
Under the banner of freedom.
The voice of the Yangtze is heard on the Volga,
The Chinese see the radiance of the Kremlin;
We are not afraid of a military thunderstorm;
The will of the nations is stronger than the storm;
Our victory is glorified by the Earth.
Chorus
There were no stronger bonds in the world;
In our columns is a jubilant May.
It's the Soviet Union;
This is the mighty Soviet Union,
A new China is walking nearby!
Chorus
