"My Nation, My Homeland" is the official regional anthem of the state of Burgenland in eastern Austria. It was written by Ernst Joseph Görlich and composed by Peter Zauner.
History[]
The anthem was advertised by the state leadership of the Fatherland Front in the Federal State of Austria in October 1935. It appeared in the party's newspaper Burgenländisches Volksblatt, hosting a competition for an anthem. The government then wanted to overcome the internal conflicts that grew in Burgenland, as well as threats from neighbouring Nazi Germany.
In the beginning of the creating of the anthem, teachers and officials from Vienna and Burgenland took part. Among over a hundred submissions, the song "Mein Heimatvolk, mein Heimatland" by Ernst Joseph Görlich, was nominated. In 1936, Peter Zauner's musical composition was selected from nearly 300 applications. The winning project was supported by the party through all legislative instances and adopted by the Burgenland state parliament as the state anthem.
However, the anthem only lasted for two years, since with effect from 1 October 1938, Burgenland was divided into what were now the Reichsgaue Niederdonau and Steiermark. In 1949, after World War II, the anthem was reinstated by law with the permission of Soviet invaders.

English translation[]
My nation, my homeland, connected to Austria!
The father of God's hand resteth on thee, thou hast often felt it.
Thou art steeled in hard strife for loyalty, diligence and honesty.
𝄆 At the bed of the Raab, at the edge of the heath, thou art my dear Burgenland! 𝄇
Thy banner is blazing red and gold, thy colours are red and gold!
Red was the motto of hot hearts that died for their homeland!
Gold is the sunlight of the future that shineth down on thee!
𝄆 The people proudly wear thy coat of arms: Thou art my dear Burgenland! 𝄇
My homeland, my homeland! With Austria's federal states
the fraternal bond hath kept ther bound for many a good hour!
Equal to all in strength and loyalty, thou youngest child of Austria.
𝄆 By thee I stand with heart and hand: Thou remain my dear Burgenland! 𝄇
