Majulah Singapura - Singapore National Anthem on TV

"Majulah Singapura" is the national anthem of Singapore. Created in 1958 by Zubir Said, it was selected as the nation's anthem when it attained self-governance about a year later. In 1963, Singapore became a state of Malaysia for two years after over a decade of British colonial rule. In 1965, after Singapore was expelled from Malaysia due to tensions, "Majulah Singapura" officially became the national anthem of the Republic of Singapore under Lee Kuan Yew. Originally, the lyrics by Zubir Said were written for the City Council of Singapore, and have since been modified. According to Singaporean law, the lyrics to "Majulah Singapura" are to be sung in Malay, although there are authorised translations provided in the country's three other official languages: English, Mandarin Chinese, and Tamil.[1][2]
