"How Glorious Is Our Lord in Zion" is a 1794 hymn composed by Dmitry Bortniansky and written by Mikhail Kheraskov. It was the unofficial anthem of the Russian Empire between the late 18th century and the early 19th century. The lyrics is based on the 48th Psalm; the music is sung in Znamenny Chant and is also used in "Di Shvue".[1][2][3][4]

How glorious is our Lord in Zion,
Who can't explain language.
He is great in heaven on the throne,
In blades of grass on the ground is great.
Everywhere, Lord, everywhere You are glorious,
In the night, in the days of radiance is equal.
You are your golden-fleeced lamb
In itself depicts us;
We are a ten-stringed psalter
We bring you incense.
Receive gratitude from us
Like a fragrant smoke.
You illuminate mortals with the sun,
You love, God, us as children,
You fill us with food
And you build a city for us in Zion.
You sinners, God, visit
And you feed on your flesh.
O God, to Your village
May our voices enter
And our tenderness will rise,
To You, like morning dew!
We will put an altar in your hearts,
To you, Lord, we sing and praise!
