The Anthem of the Banat Schwabens is the ethnic anthem of the Banat Schwaben people, ethnic Germans who have historically settled around the Danube River. It uses the tune of "God Save the King". It was written by Maximilian Moltke, a Danubian German, who also wrote the national anthem of the Transylvanian Saxons.
After 1945, the Banat itself was not allowed to have its own anthem. The national team of the Banat Swabians has brought the "Banater Hymn" back to the consciousness of the compatriots in Germany and has preserved it. The anthem is sung at all major events.[1]
