Hatikva- The Song of Hope
"Hatikvah" is the national anthem of Israel. It tells about the 2,000-year-old hope of the Jewish people's return to their homeland of Israel. The lyrics were originally a nine-stanza poem called "Our Hope" (he. תקותנו), written by Naftali Herz Imber.
This song uses only the first stanza and the refrain of Imber's poem. The last line of the refrain was changed, and the words were put to music. The music is from a folk song that Shmuel Cohen found himself humming one day. The lyrics are about the Jews' hope that one day they will overcome their sadness.[1][2][3]

The lyrics is based on a 9-stanza poem written by Jewish poet Naftali Herz Imber in 1878.[3] Just the first verse and refrain is constituted as the national anthem.

O while within a Jewish breast,
Beats true a Jewish heart,
And Jewish glances turning East,
To Zion fondly dart;
O then our Hope—it is not dead,
Our ancient Hope and true,
𝄆 To be a nation free forevermore
Zion and Jerusalem at our core. 𝄇[5]
