The Hamburg Hymn is the regional anthem of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
The song, which was created in 1828, is also used as a national anthem on official occasions of the city state. However, like most other national anthems, it is not legally regulated or under protection, so it has legally an unofficial character. The chorus ends with Hammonia, a Latinized form of the name Hamburg.

Based on a text by Georg Nikolaus Bärmann, Albert Methfessel composed a cheerful, but worthy melody, which he first presented on 19 April 1828, who presented Hamburg Liedertafel. The men's choir, today the oldest in Hamburg, was just five years. On 29 September 1828, the later Hamburg anthem in the new Hamburg Stadt-Theater was publicly performed for the first time. The song was the final vocals in the piece of civil loy, a father -town spectacle by Georg Nikolaus Bärmann, which was performed on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Reformation in Hamburg and the bourgeois constitution (Langer Revess 1529). Unlike the patriotic epic, which was soon forgotten again, the final song fared. In particular, a version redesigned and shortened by seven to four stanzas prevailed as an anthem on official occasions and was used as such since 1890. The change was partly based on political reasons, and a shorter playing time was also considered more practical.
