"Fair Land Sarawak" was the second anthem of Sarawak, a state of Malaysia. It was first adopted in 1946, when Sarawak was a British Crown Colony. In 1963, Sarawak became a state of Malaysia, and the state anthem was in use 1973, when it was replaced by "Sarawak Bahagia". The lyrics were written by F.C. Ogden, and the music was composed by George R.K. Freeth, The music is the same as that of the previous anthem "Gone Forth Beyond the Sea" – the anthem of the Raj of Sarawak.
Like the previous anthem, the lyrics are written in English. However, the next two anthems of Sarawak are written in Malay.
Lyrics[]
Fair Land Sarawak
We will never cease to honour thee
and with our loyal sons
Defend your liberty
From your high forest hills,
Down to the open sea
May freedom ever reign
Men live in unity
Proudly our Flag flies high
above our Country strong and free
Long may our Peoples live
in peace and harmony
