Western Europe is a major European subregion, often used in juxtaposition to Eastern Europe. The countries and territories vary depending on context. For instance, the CIA includes Andorra, Spain and Portugal in Southwestern Europe; the UN geoscheme includes Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, and Switzerland; and many others include the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Switzerland, Finland, Austria, and Northern France in Northwestern Europe.
