Babrak Wassa is an Afghan-German composer and conductor who wrote the National Anthem of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in 2006, written by Abdul Bari Jahani.
He created numerous compositions and arrangements. Several of his works were premiered in the Cologne Philharmonie and were recorded by the BBC London.
In 2006, commissioned by the Afghan government, he composed the Afghan national anthem for symphony orchestra and voice, which was recorded on CD by the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn under Wassa's direction.
