Anton Pann was an Ottoman-born Wallachian composer. He also wrote poems in his native tongue Romanian. Pann was an influential folklorist and collector of proverbs, as well as a lexicographer and textbook author.
He composed "Deșteaptă-te, române!", the current national anthem of Romania.
