- For the current anthem, see Menıñ Qazaqstanym.
The State Anthem of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic was the national anthem of Kazakhstan when it was part of the Soviet Union. The lyrics were written by three Kazakh authors Caim Muhammad-Hannoff, Abdul Tagey-Bayeff and Gabbit Mussey-Repoff, and its music was composed by three composers named Mucan Toley-Bayeff, Eugene Gregory Brusiloff (a Russian) and Latiff Hamiddy (a Tatar).[1][2] It was played alongside the official national anthem, the State Anthem of the Soviet Union, at the time.
When Kazakhstan seceded from the Soviet Union after the dissolution in 1991, this anthem was replaced by the first anthem of Qazaqstan, which used the same melody as the former anthem but with different lyrics. In 2006, that was replaced by the current anthem "Menıñ Qazaqstanym".[2]

English translation[]
We age-old Kazakhs seeking freedom,
Sacrificing our lives for honour and glory.
Traversing the desolate fog of darkness,
Yet forth Lenin came and morning rose upon us.
Chorus:
Long live the Soviet Union,
To freedom and coordination.
For the unity of our country,
To victory, joy and bravery!
Lenin's victorious path shall never fade,
Our future's glory shall spead in our land.
To the protector of the Union's republics,
We thank the great Russian people.
Chorus
We have become a country strong and free,
Where friendship and unity have been established.
Lead us to triumph in war and toil,
O wise Party/Stalin, you are truly loved.
Chorus
Trivia[]
- It is the only SSR anthem played in 3/4; all other SSR anthems used the 4/4.
- The melody was retained in the anthem used right after the fall of the Soviet Union, until which it was replaced by "Menıñ Qazaqstanym" in early 2006 (shortly before the release of Borat).
