The State Anthem of the Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic was the regional anthem of Belarus when it was part of the Soviet Union. It was written by Belarusian Soviet poet Michaś Klimkovič and it was set to music by Belarusian Soviet composer Nieścier Sakałowski. Before de-Stalinization, the original lyrics which mentioned Joseph Stalin were used briefly from 1952 to 1953; the lyrics were modified in 1955.[1][2][3][4][5]
This anthem has existed since 1944 (around the time most SSR anthems were created), so it took over a decade to create it.[6]
"My Biełarusy", the current anthem of Belarus, uses this anthem's tune, but with modified lyrics.
